Making Progress

It has been such a trying month already but I still have joy!  All because the God of creation has decided to breathe air into my lungs one more time!  I know that purpose is in sight, I have to keep my eyes on it and through it, so I can get to it!

OK, this morning, I got a call from a parent of one of Tyler's classmates.  Tyler attends a specialized school for Autism and other special needs.  His former classmate for the past 3 years has been newly attending since the beginning of this school year and is now in touch with us once again.

So the mom called me this morning after attending a training and mentioned that she was astounded by the number of parents who actually lacked the basic resources that they need for their children with special needs.

Can you say light bulb!!!  So we have decided to begin working on a small project that will be available in hard copy and on the Internet beginning with some tips and resources to aid parents who are in the process.  The goal is to make the transition slightly easier for those who are treading on a path parallel to yours.

Please look out for the "Alabaster for Autism" page that I have been working on to be launched here in the next few weeks. Links for sharing as well!

A Little Celebration

In honor of our exciting new adventure into the blog world, and our new blog, the Lavenders and I decided to have a "Brinner" (their term) which is basically breakfast for dinner last night.

Menu consisted of:  Curried Egg Scramble topped with Colby Jack, Turkey Sausages and some huge Homemade French Toast Sticks (more like slabs) sprinkled with lots of cinnamon.  And pink milk.
They ate everything; which is quite surprising because even the 2 year old sat long enough to empty his plate.  Needless to say, they slept well last night.  Thank God for a peaceful house.

We had fun being together, laughing about getting socks for Christmas and just being silly. It's almost magical being with little people because they share such innocent perspectives, they love you, and you love them just for the nutcases you all are.

Gotta be honest, I've really just recently learned how to enjoy the moment, and to be satisfied with where I am, and that the things I thought were so huge are actually easily compounded when forced to make lemons into lemonade.  Extra sweet..with big lemon slices in the mix to make sure nobody mistakes it for somethin' else.  (You know...in your wedding gifted Williams-Sonoma pitcher with your monograms that you intended to use exclusively at a posh dinner party minus toddlers, but alas you've got it sitting on a vinyl tablecloth amongst little hands that are doing their best to refrain from smashing it!) So I enjoy every moment even those not so opulent, grand or fabulous.  Yet in it's own way, it was a lovely affair.

A round of I Spy, a mini talent show by Kiarra, and the best dance-off ever, concluded the evening... Some photos below.
